Remember, Remember, the 5th November.....

This past Wednesday 5th, November 2008, the World changed irreversibly.

Not only will this date go down in history as the day America elected their first black President, the World said 'Hello' to Chris Berry Bachelor of Arts with honours. That's right, I graduated today, after three years of studying the ins and outs of the Media. Three years that seemed to have flown by.

Barack Obama and I will forever be connected by this day. As for the future (and without sounding really cheesy), I hope that President Obama does oversee a change in the Americans ways and beliefs. For the good of the whole of humanity, lets hope he finds an end to the war in Iraq. I'll be honest and say that my view of the election and the candidates policies was overwhelmed by the whole 'skin-colour' issue, but what I have gathered of his ideals, he seems ok!

For me personally, I just don't know.

Currently, I am a full-time member of staff on the payroll of Liverpool Football Club. For now, at least, I am earning a decent wage, saving and living somewhat comfortably, but I am not one to rest on my laurels. I like to have options, at the moment I have a few.
My priority is to progress, but looking at the bigger picture, the recession and other such circumstances, make it difficult to see too far ahead. But like everyone has to, for the time being, I will plod on through this life.

I didn't make as many friends as I would have wished to at the University of Chester, but the ones I did become friends with are people I hope to stay in touch with for a long time. The aim of the game, however, was to graduate and leave with a degree to aid your path to a better career.

The ceremony itself was surprisingly regal. I am from a High Church of England family but this was something else. Chester Cathedral was full to the brim with graduates, their families, clergy and University staff. The service lasted approximately 90 minutes and was full of speeches. Apart from the Vice-Chancellors' I can only remember the speech of Rhys Williams, whom was given an honourary Master of Arts.

He was 87 and still full of life, although his frail demeanour said otherwise. He said that "Today was the end" for his illustrious career but the beginning of ours. Only too true.

So without drawing comparison to the new most powerful man in the World, I will say this; You stole my thunder man!!

I'll drop in again soon, catch you later.
